Roland Fraser Delaney, 75, passed away suddenly at his home on Old Tatamagouche Road, Delaney Settlement on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007. Roland was born in Onslow Mountain, a son of the late Roderick and Annie (Smith) Delaney. He is survived by his brothers, Aubrey, Charles and Lorrain, Onslow Mountain; sisters, Joyce (Arnett) Marchbank, Keeble and Theresa Glass, Onslow Mountain; nieces, Sherri (Donald) Smith, Debert; Vimy Glass, Truro; Annie (Kim) Langille, Tatamagouche; nephews, Arnett (Denise) Marchbank, Victoria, B.C.; Thomas Marchbank, Truro; Charles Marchbank, Tatamagouche; many cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother-in-law, Brian Glass. Roland spent his life working in the forest industry until he retired and then he had enjoyable times with many visitors, especially Dave, Curtis, and Bette and Bill. Roland was a great brother and uncle and will be truly missed by his family and friends. In his house on the hill he always welcomed a chance to play a few tunes on his fiddle to anyone visiting. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. and funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, all in the Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, Rev. David MacNaughton officiating, with burial to follow in the Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bible Hill Cemetery, or to a charity of your choice.
