New Waterford/Westville - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra Frances Leudy, 62, of Westville, N.S., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in New Waterford, Sandra was the daughter of the late Angus "Doinks"‚ and Mary (MacDonald) MacDonald. Sandra was a former member of St. Agnes Church, New Waterford. She was a remarkable woman who devoted her life to her family and friends. After raising her own family she cared for others, as she was a very compassionate babysitter, "Always a giver, never a taker." Sandra was an avid bingo player and loved to have a good time. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Sandra is survived by three daughters: Kelly Smith (Harvey), Anita Leudy (Kim), both of Westville, Johnna Aucoin (Gerard), New Waterford; and one son, Johnny Leudy Jr. (Terri), Westville. Also surviving are brothers, Louis and Albert MacDonald, New Waterford; sisters: Harriet MacDonald, Hazel (Louie) Syms, New Waterford, Agnes MacDonald (Tim), Petit de Grat; and six dearly loved grandchildren: Peter, Chad, Cody, Cassie, Haley and Kailyn. Sandra was predeceased by her first husband, John Dixon; and her second husband, John R. Leudy; two brothers, Jackie and Archie; and two sisters, Anne Margaret and Catherine. Visitation will be held today, Jan. 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral mass Friday, 11 a.m. in St. Agnes Church. Cremation to follow, with interment in the parish cemetery at a later date. Following the mass, all are invited to join the family for a reception in the parish hall, directly across from the church. As an expression of sympathy for Sandra, donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital (Palliative Care Unit), New Glasgow.
