NEW GLASGOW – Philip Matthew Smith, 38, Westville Rd., New Glasgow, passed away January 20, 2008 at home. Born in Glace Bay he was a son of Gleniss Smith, Westville Rd., and the late John Vincent Smith. Philip had been a resident of New Glasgow most of his life. He was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and was employed at Sobeys Head Office as a programmer. Surviving are his mother, Gleniss, Westville Rd.; brother, Andrew (Sandi), Eureka; nieces, Anna and Maya Smith, Eureka; maternal grandmother, Amy Hulse, Westville Rd.; step-sister, Nicola (John) Fisher, England; several aunts uncles and cousins, in England. He was predeceased by his father, John Vincent Smith, and maternal grandfather, Arthur Hulse. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A pubic memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, the S.P.C.A. or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.C.
