Helen passed away suddenly on February 20, 2010 at the Victoria Hospital with her family at her side. She was born on June 29, 1935 in Prince Albert, SK to Edmond and Mary Gagnon, the youngest of 11 children. On April 27, 1957 Helen and John were married and together they were blessed with 3 boys. In 1973 Helen became a widow and she met this role with grace, perseverance and patience ensuring that her boys never went without. She was very family orientated “the glue that kept the family togetherâ€. She shared a special relationship with her sister Irene, they were nearly inseparable. They would get together to do their shopping ensuring they got the best deals and no shopping trip was complete without a stop in the book section to purchase the newest romance novels. She enjoyed ceramics, wood working, spending time in the outdoors and gardening. Helen will be loving remembered by her sons Eric; Robin (Wendy) and their children Brianna, Jared (Brittany) & their children Ava & Aurora, mom’s special companion Kida; Terrence (Julie) and their children Drew, Michelle, Alison & Fox; her brothers and sister Irene Vermette (Maurice Sarchuk), Alphonse (Helen) Gagnon and Eli (Florence) Gagnon; sisters-in-law Carol Hall and Florence Hall and brother-in-law George Brunet. She was predeceased by her husband John; parents Edmond and Mary Gagnon; her brothers and sisters Leona Lucier, William Garneau, Lorett Lanigan, Flora Vermette, Charlie Gagnon, Tom Garneau and Mary Ledoux; brothers-in-law Louis Hall and Harold “Bud†Hall and sister-in-law Mary Brunet. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Maurice Fiolleau. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
