Elma Pearl Chapman of Fredericton, NB passed away February 23, 2010 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on June 1, 1924 at Kingsclear, she was a daughter of the late Gilford Lee and Annie L. (Murdoch) Scott. Elma was a member of Rebecca Lodge # 102 and Brunswick Street Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Elma is survived by three sons, Curtis Chapman (Cheryl), Hanwell, Edison Chapman (Lorraine), Fredericton and Brian Chapman (Susan), Rusagonis; grandchildren, Darron Chapman (Susan), Sandra Hoyt, Melanie MacDonald (Bruce), Shelley Chapman (Charles Gregan), Karen Spencer (Kirk), Christopher Chapman (Miriam Woad), Melissa Chapman (Blaine Brewer) and Ryan Chapman; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Muriel Maston (Harold), Fredericton; a brother, Devern Scott (Mardell), Durham; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Elma was predeceased by her husband, Leslie C. Chapman on August 8, 1987; two infant sons, Vernon and Carman and a sister, Marion Kitchen.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at Brunswick Street Baptist Church, Fredericton on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church gymnasium. Interment will take place later at Temperance Vale Cemetery.
