MARIE ANNA DUVAL
Marie Anna “Maryanne” Duval passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, February 22, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Marie Anna was born on September 16, 1920 in Pascal, SK where she spent her early years. The family then moved to Cabana in 1937 where Marie Anna worked at the family general store. In 1944 she moved to Vancouver where she worked at St. Paul’s Hospital as a Ward Aide. In the summer of 1945 she returned home to the Spiritwood area where she met Joe Duval. They were married on November 19, 1946. After having their first daughter Louise, the family then moved to Prince Albert where they made their home and Marie Anna dedicated her life to being a great homemaker and mother. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years. Marie Anna’s favorite pastimes were playing cards, entertaining family and friends and spending summers at Waskesiu. She very much loved her children, grandchildren, sons-in-laws, grandsons-in-law and great-grandson Noah. Mom is survived by her loving family: her three daughters Louise (Kelly) Strand, Charlotte (Peter) Studer and Colleen Duval all of Prince Albert; three granddaughters Dreanne (Scott) Neurauter of Okotoks, AB, Kristin (Dwayne) Shewchuk and Janelle (Wes) Holowachuk both of Prince Albert; one great-grandson Noah Neurauter; one sister Clémence Harry of Penticton, BC; one sister-in-law Frances Rusk of Edmonton, AB; one brother-in-law John Duval of Prince Albert as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph; her infant son Gérard in 1947; her parents Cyrille and Delia (née Lajeunesse) Gilbert; her sisters Bernadette Gilbert, Annette (René) Cornet and Laurette (Romeo) Frenette; in-laws John Harry, Ludger (Lavina) Duval, Fred (Nettie) Duval, Bernie (Margaret) Duval, Gabrielle (Jerry) Pilon, Yvette (Art) Boudreault, Theresa Duval and Neil Rusk. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26 from Sacred Heart Cathedral – 1401 – 4 Avenue West by Father Maurice Fiolleau. Interment will take place in the South Hill Cemetery. The family would greatly appreciate that donations may be made to Level 5 – Medical Floor at the Victoria Hospital, in care of Tannice Thompson, Nursing Unit Manager in lieu of other tributes.
