Halifax/Pictou – Adolph Henry Sachs, 89, of Tangmere Crescent, Halifax, and formerly of Pictou, passed away February 25, 2008, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Germany, he came to Canada with his wife and family in August of 1949, settling in Pictou. He spent most of his life in Pictou, operating the Sachs Beauty Parlour and Barber Shop until retirement in 1988. At that time he and his wife moved to Halifax to be closer to their son and his family. Adolph is survived by his wife, Anna (Grohmann); son, Adolph Michael (Leona), Halifax; grandson, Chris (Lana), Halifax; granddaughters, Monica (Scott), and Melissa (George), both of Ontario; great-grandchildren: Christina and Michael, Halifax; Matthew and Caley, Ontario; sister-in-law and her husband, Berta and Mike Babinec, Pictou; niece, Anna Liese (Sieghard) Saring, Germany; nephews, Michael (June) Babinec, and Rollie (Christina) Babinec; niece, Elaine Babinec, all of Pictou; grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Henry, and nephew, Norman Babinec. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Bill Rankin officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
