DOCTORS BROOK – Anthony Francis “Tony” MacDonald, of Doctors Brook, passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2008, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Doctors Brook, Nova Scotia, in 1916 to the late Dan A. and Sarah MacDonald, Tony remained in his childhood home until 2003, when he became a resident of Glen Haven. Tony worked on the farm on which he was raised during his youth, later working on construction with Colin R. MacDonald LTD until his retirement. Tony will be remembered as a wonderful uncle and an avid cribbage teacher, whose home was always open to friends and family. Known for living a full and happy life, Tony preferred to spend his free time in his garden or watching the ocean from his back deck. He will be sadly missed by immediate family members: Robert Funke (Janet), New Glasgow, and their daughters: Jennifer, Robin (Melvin Gilliam), Jillian and Kathleen; surviving sisters, Elizabeth (Lawrence) MacDonald, Ardness and Ann (Jim Finney), Windsor, ON and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by family members: Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, Dougald MacDonald, Joseph Duncan (Joe) MacDonald, Mary Catherine Funke (Arthur), John Dan MacDonald, Janet Brine (Kenneth), John Allen (Allie) MacDonald and Michael MacDonald. Visitation was held in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Arisaig, Rev. Colin MacKinnon presiding.
