PICTOU – Beatrice A. Bennett, 77, of Smelters Lane, Pictou, died June 9, 2008, in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born on Pictou Island, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Jessie (MacDonald) MacCallum. Surviving are her husband, Harold; children: Harold (Pat), New Glasgow; Ralph (Betty), Pictou; Eric (Debbie), Ontario; Margaret Ann (Jim), Ontario; Janet (Mike), South Carolina; Johnny (Jennifer), Alberta; Michael, Alberta; Lyndon, Ontario; Cindy (Kelly), Alberta; Lori Dawn, Hailfax; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son in infancy. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. today in Pictou Island Cemetery, with Jacquie Ross officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
