Halifax/Thorburn – Ryan, Cecilia V. “Cis” - 90, St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax, formerly of Thorburn, passed away May 30, 2008, at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late David and Gertrude (Sullivan) Ryan. Cecilia was resident of Halifax for some 40 years, having resided the last nine years in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. She was a longtime employee of Sobey’s Stores, beginning to work for Frank Sobey. She was a former member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Halifax, and in younger years was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by sisters, Theresa and Mary; and brothers: Frank, Leo, Bernie, Charlie and Terrance. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn, until the time of the funeral mass at 11 a.m., Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to St Ann’s Cemetery Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
