PICTOU – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Norma Hemmings of Pictou, on May 3, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born August 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Eva Noel. She had worked at Hamilton’s Biscuits, and was a former member of the Pictou Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Doris will be greatly missed by her husband, Harold; son, Joey (Sandra) and beloved granddaughter, Shelby. She is also survived by sister, Margie (George) Carpenter, Ontario; brothers: Edward (Barb), Joey (Janice), Harry Noel, all of Pictou; and Harold, Ontario, several nieces and nephews. Doris will be greatly missed by everyone. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Rose and Thersa. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held today 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
