Edward Joseph Mullins

HALIFAX/NEW GLASGOW – Edward Joseph Mullins, 90, Veteran’s Memorial Building, Halifax, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away December 24, 2007, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward M. and Harriett (LaPierre) Mullins. He was a resident of Pictou and Greenwood before moving to New Glasgow. Edward was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1667. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s University. He served from 1942 to 1946 during WWII with the R.C.A.F. as a Trade Radar Mechanic, with two of these years being spent in England attached to R.A.F. Edward then worked in Halifax with the Pictou Lumber Company for a number of years. He later worked at Thompson and Sutherland Ltd. head office in New Glasgow for some 16 years and later with Tibbetts Paints until his retirement in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Theresa; daughters: Maureen Frances (Pete) Buell, Halifax; Ann Marie (Bill) Rhude, Loon Lake; Kathleen Elizabeth (Rod) Miller, White Hill; a son, James Shannon (Dawn), Ottawa; granddaughter, Amy; grandsons: Michael, David, Andrew, Jonathan and Stephen; a daughter-in-law, Fern Mullins. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Judith, and a son, David Edward. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton, with Father Bill Rankin officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Fund.
