DOHERTY, GEORGE George Doherty, whose heart was always in New Brunswick, passed away on February 19th, 2003 in Iowa, USA at the age of 54. George lived life to the fullest spending every minute he could at the cottage, floating down the Saint John River on his boat, and building notoriety for his famous weekend breakfasts and 50 pound roasts. His smiles were contagious and his jokes were never ending. His lifetime goal was to care for those around him always putting their needs before his. Also known as Gumpy, George has a special place in his heart for his granddaughter Ryanne. A graduate of OHS and the Royal Military College he enjoyed numerous successes as a Lt. Colonel in the Canadian Military and as an entrepreneur. He will be greatly missed by Gail (Mills) Doherty, his loving wife of 33 years, his sons Christopher and Joel, his daughter-in-law Denyse (Molinelli) Doherty and his little Ryanne. He will also be greatly missed by his parents Jean (Stirling) Doherty and Sholly Doherty, his mother-in-law Ann Mills, as well as sisters Marilyn Kirchgessner, Jeanette Scott, Susan Stairs, and their families; his brothers Peter and Timothy and their families. And finally he is also survived by his Chocolate Lab, Hunter and the hundreds of other people whose lives he has touched. George (Dad) you will be missed. XXX OOO Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Sunday, February 23rd from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. The funeral mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Monday, February 24th at 1:00 PM. Rev. Ken Weir officiating.
