New Glasgow – Elizabeth Joan “Betty” (MacPhail) Cleland, 86. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Joan Cleland, age 86, of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, on Monday, October 6, 2008. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Seymour Sr. and Mary MacKenzie. Betty was a Registered Nurse and school teacher. She taught in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario. She is survived by her three children: Robert, Kenzie and Elizabeth; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. In honouring Betty's wishes, there will be no public service. Interment will be at the Robie Street Cemetery, Truro. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the Aberdeen Hospital, and Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. No flowers by request. Donations in her memory may be made to the local S.P.C.A.
