BASIL ELLSWORTH PARKER

PARKER, BASIL ELLSWORTH The death of Basil Ellsworth Parker of Fredericton, husband of the late Ann (Blackmore) Parker, occurred on Saturday, March 01, 2003 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late William and Elsie (Snow) Parker. Basil was a Corporal with the Black Watch and # 2RCR in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving in several places throughout the world including Cyprus and Korea. He was a member of St. Anthony's Parish, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4, and was an avid bingo player. Following his retirement from the forces, he worked for the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. Basil is survived by his special friend, Louise Hachey of Fredericton; his children Debbie Clarke (Luke) of Quebec, Wayne Parker (Sharon) of Waasis, Donald Parker (Susan LaFrance) of Lincoln, Nancy Lavigne (Tony) of Fredericton, Rodney Parker (Pamela Howells) of Fredericton, and Joanne Parker (Michael Lavigne) of Lower St. Marys; a brother, Jack Parker (Felice) of Canso, NS; sisters Flo Nickerson (Ted) of Canso, Mamie Durling of Stittsville, Ontario, Joan Robinson of Ottawa, Stacia Parker of Ottawa, and Rose Munroe (Lawrence) of Canso; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Basil was predeceased by a brother, Ralph; and by sisters Mona Osbourne and Patsy Broussard. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton North, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from St. Anthony's Church, Union Street. Rev. Monte Peters will be the Celebrant. The pallbearers are Rodney Parker, Wayne Parker, Donald Parker, Luke Clarke, Shayne Parker, and Wayne Parker. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Anthony's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the New Brunswick Lung Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Veteran's Mini-bus Fund would be appreciated by the family. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held on Monday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Personal condolences may be offered via www.yorkfh.com.
