Pictou – Emma Mary Fleury, 89, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS. Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Alfreda (Vigneault) Bourgeois, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Emma lived most of her life in Pictou with a number of years of her married life being spent in Westville. She worked as a cook at Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou, and was a member of Stella Maris CWL and also a charter member of Westville CWL as well as a member of the Pictou Lionettes. Emma’s greatest joy in life was her family and cooking. She is survived by her five sons: Butch (Patsy), Greenwood; Victor “Skip” (Terri), Gary, Rob (Hazel) and Rick, all of Pictou; grandchildren: Stephen, Cheryl, Kevin, Rubin, Ryan, Lorraine, Jeffrey and Melissa as well as six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; brothers: Harry, Bill, Bunny and Jimmy; and sisters, Beatrice and Margie. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in McLaren’s Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral mass will be held at 11a.m. Monday in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice.
