MARION E. SULLIVAN
SULLIVAN, MARION E. Marion E. Sullivan, 89, formerly of 62 State Street, died March 17, 2003 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home. She was born March 26, 1913 in Flume Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of James P. and Elizabeth Quinn Sullivan. She attended schools in New Brunswick and in 1934 she received her Nursing Degree from Queens Hospital. She also did post-graduate work at St. J oseph's College, the University of Maine, and Boston College. Marion worked at Mercy Hospital as head supervisor for 30 years. She touched the lives of many during her time there. She was also employed at Cambridge Hospital, Boston, St. Francis Hospital, Olean, New York, and instructed nurses' aids, ward aids, candy stripers, and unit secretaries at Mercy Hospital. Marion was a member of the Mercy Hospital Alumni Association, Maine State Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the Catholic Nurses Association. She was a communicant of St. Dominic's Church. Marion was devoted to her family and returned most summers to fish her favorite spots on Flume Ridge. She is survived by her sister, Lillian Swift of Fredericton, New Brunswick and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours. Prayers will be recited Friday, March 21 at 9:15 AM at Conroy-Tully Funeral Home, 172 State St., to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 10:00 AM at Holy Martyr's Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth. Interment will be held in the spring in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Rolling Dam, Charlotte County, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marion's memory to Mercy Hospital, 144 State St., Portland, ME 04101.
