HARRY (DOC) ALEXANDER SAVAGE
SAVAGE, HARRY (DOC) ALEXANDER The death of Harry (Doc) Savage of Stanley NB, husband of Amy (Flewelling) Savage of 61 years, occurred on Sunday March 23, 2003 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Fredericton NB. He was the son of the late George and Laura (Stafford) Savage. Harry was a member of the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Stanley were he was a former warden of the church. He was a veteran of World War II, a gunner of the 2nd Field Regiment; he served in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland. He was a life member of the Nashwaak Bridge Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 80, he was a school bus driver who will be remembered for the treats he gave the children and as a retired Post Master of 23 years he will be remembered by children for chewing gum and the ability to shoot elastics. Harry will be missed by all and remembered by friends for his whit and humor. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons Leigh (Barbara) Savage of Fredericton NB, Laurie (Rene) Savage of Fredericton NB and Sandy Savage of Woodstock NB; two sisters Madeline Brown of Fredericton NB and Mae (Glen) Nicholson of Vermont; nine grandchildren Gordon (Karin), Deborah, Stephen, Kevin, Jillian, Christopher, Bradley Savage, Jennifer (Matthew) Patterson and Erin Gallagher; two great grandchildren Caleigh Savage, Thomas Patterson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers George Sacre and Austin Savage; two sisters Jean White and Hazel Savage. Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton NB on Monday from 7-9pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am from St.Thomas Anglican Church, Stanley with Rev. Ranall Ingalls officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation to the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Stanley Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of the donor 's choice would be appreciated by the family. Pallbearers are Gordon Savage, Stephen Savage, Kevin Savage, Christopher Savage, Bradley Savage and Doug MacDonald. Honourary Pallbearers are Jack Spillman, Vernon Wilkins and Sid Currie.
