STELLARTON – Foster Willis Gordon, age 81, of the Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou, and formerly of Fairview Ave., Stellarton, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008, in the Veteran’s Unit. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late James and Lillian (Taylor) Gordon. Foster lived in Stellarton for most of his life. A Veteran of the Second World War, he served with the Royal Canadian Navy. He worked most of his life as a commercial salesman and was a charter member of the U.C.T. Foster was a member of Christ Anglican Church and was involved with Scouts Canada for many years. He enjoyed time spent at the cottage at Black Point and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sports fan. Surviving are his wife, the former Elva Howard; daughters, Barbara, Fredericton; Eleanor, Stellarton; and son, David, Stellarton; grandchildren: Kathryn, Matthew, Jennifer, Jeffery and Kara; a great-granddaughter, Addyson. Foster was the last surviving member of his immediate family, predeceased by sisters: Lillian, Ida and Laura; and brothers, Blair and Searle. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. A public memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from Christ Anglican Church, with Rev. Peter Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Christ Church Cemetery. Donations in memory of Foster may be made to the Northumberland Veteran’s Unit Bus Fund, or to a charity of one’s choice.
