BRIDGEWATER – Freda Munro-Adams, Bridgewater, formerly of Westville, passed away peacefully at the Rosedale Nursing Home in New Germany, NS, on April 21, 2008. Born in New Glasgow on August 9, 1927, she was the youngest daughter of Fred and Beulah (MacKenzie) Holland. Freda graduated from Provincial Normal College, Truro at a young age and spent many years teaching in several schools in Pictou County. Later she moved to Toronto and then to Calgary where she worked at the University of Calgary until retirement. She was a member of Bridgewater United Church and previously St. Paul United in Westville, NS. Freda is survived by her second husband, James Adams, Bridgewater; son, Bruce Munro, Bridgewater; daughter, Beth (Bill) Thompson, Westville; grandchildren, Chris and Cindy Thompson, Westville; and great-grandson, Riley Thompson, Westville. She is also survived by her sister, Edna (Alvin) Rutherford, Didsbury, Alberta; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Raymond Munro, Westville, N.S. Visitation will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, NS and the funeral service will be from Eagles Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial will be in a family lot in Malagash, N.S. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
