SIDNEY BERESFORD CURRIE

CURRIE, SIDNEY BERESFORD The death of Sidney Beresford Currie of Stanley, husband of Ethel (Douglass) Currie, occurred on May 23, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Stanley, York County, he was the son of the late George and Eliza Anne (Thomas) Currie. Mr. Currie was a member of Saint Thomas Anglican Church, Stanley. He served his country during the Second World War (September 1939 - September 1945) and has had 58 years of continuous service with Beaverbrook Branch #80, Royal Canadian Legion, Nashwaak Bridge. In addition to his wife, Sid is survived by his step-son, Doug Forbes (Nancy Anderson) of Fredericton; three grandchildren, Justin and Lauren Currie, and Lavalee Forbes; two sistersin-law, Ida Currie of Stanley, and Annie Currie of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Currie; two brothers Herbert Currie and John Currie; and his sister, Mabel Hood. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton North on Sunday, May 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Legion Tribute service will be held at the funeral home at 7 pm Sunday evening. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 26, at 2 pm from Saint Thomas Anglican Church, Stanley. Rev. Ranall Ingalls will officiate. Reception to follow service. Interment will take place in Saint Thomas Anglican Cemetery, Stanley. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, remembrances made to Saint Thomas Anglican Church, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
