LOWER PLYMOUTH - George Alfred Grant, 85, of Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, formerly of Lower Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, September 5th, 2007, at the Shiretown Nursing Home. Born in Scotch Hill, he was a son of the late George B. and Alice May (Heighton) Grant. George moved from Ontario in 1959 to reside in Lower Plymouth. While in Ontario, he was an employee at Burlington Steel Co. in Hamilton and was also a former carpenter by trade. He co-owned and operated D & G Construction Ltd. in Pictou Co. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. Surviving besides his wife, the former Bertha (Elizabeth) Hansford, are brothers, Aulden, Stratford, Ont.; Gerald, Pictou; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean (Mrs. John Chisholm). The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, September 8th in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where a private family funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 9th with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Scotch Hill Cemetery, Scotch Hill. Donations in memory of George may be made to the Scotch Hill Cemetery, the Waterside Cemetery, or a charity of one's choice.
