JAMES ALFRED ROWE
ROWE, JAMES ALFRED The passing of James Alfred Rowe, beloved son of Elizabeth Rowe and the late William Rowe, occurred unexpectedly at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, June, 18, 2003. He was 56 years of age. James (Jim) was born and raised in Minto, surrounded by a large extended family and even larger circle of friends of all ages. After graduation from High School he worked with local businesses and with financial Companies in Victoria, BC and various locations in the Maritimes in the late seventies he made the decision to return home to his two greatest loves: Grand Lake and Carpentry/Construction. He worked as a self employed builder until 1985 when trauma, resulting from a serious accident, required him to give up the trade which he so enjoyed. To his family he was James, to his later adult friends he was Jim - but to his many boyhood friends he was "Jamsie Rowe". Those who knew him well knew him above all as a "people person", he made friends easily and treasured them for life. He thrived on creating opportunities to make new acquaintances, and reached many, world wide, by CB radio and the internet. He is much loved and will be sadly missed by his mother Elizabeth, his twin sister Janet Merrill (Jim) his sisters Ann Rowe and Doreen Burns (Kevin), his brothers George Rowe (Doris) and Bob Rowe, his nieces Heather, Stephanie, Mary Beth and Julie Ann Rowe and Natalie Merrill, his nephew Michael Merrill and his great nephew Jonah. He also leaves behind one Aunt, several cousins and dedicated neighbours and friends, in particular Bram Grant and Jimmy Kelly. Resting at the Minto Funeral Home, 327-3490 with visiting Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. There will be no visitation on Saturday. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2003 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church with Rev. E. Irish and Rev. J. Cathcart officiating. Interment will take place in the Church Cemetery. For those who wish donations made to the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
