JANET PRISCILLA (CLOWATER) MURCHLAND

MURCHLAND, JANET PRISCILLA (CLOWATER) The death of Janet Priscilla (Clowater) Murchland of Fredericton, wife of the late Robert Murchland, occurred at her residence at St. Anne's Court on Wednesday, July 02, 2003. She had just celebrated her 88th birthday on June 27th with family and friends. Born in McNamee, she was the daughter of the late James and Minnie (McAleer) Clowater. Mrs. Murchland was a bookkeeper at Lawson Motors for many years until her retirement. She served as Secretary and was a Past Noble Grand of Rebecca Lodge, Chapter 102. She was honoured with the award of Declaration of Chivalry for Extended Community Service. Janet was an active and dedicated member of Christ Church Cathedral, and was a Past President of the Cathedral's Anglican Church Women, where she enjoyed participating in quilting and friendship clubs. She is survived by her son, Robert J. Murchland of Fredericton; two grandchildren, Debby and Steven; one great granddaughter, Danielle; four sisters, Thelma Haines of Fredericton, Elva Elliot of Prince George, BC, Wilfreda Ruotsalanien of Montreal, QC, and Pat Davis of Los Angeles, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Ivy Hallett and Vera Reid and two brothers, James and Corry. Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday at 2:00 PM from Sunny Bank Cemetery, Fredericton North, with Dean Keith Joyce officiating. A reception will follow at 2:30 PM at the Cathedral Memorial Hall. For those who wish, remembrances made to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
