WILLIAM ROBERT HAGERMAN

HAGERMAN, WILLIAM ROBERT It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our husband, father and grandfather, William R. Hagerman of Bear Island. William passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on July 23, 2003. Born at Upper Queensbury on August 18, 1927, he was a son of the late Herman and Mina (Parent) Hagerman. William began his working years in Bear Island as a farmer and a heavy equipment operator on highway construction in the early 1950's. He moved to Nashwaaksis in 1965 and was a building contractor there until moving back to Bear Island in 1980. He then operated a sawmill until his retirement. William derived great enjoyment from family, travel and in later years, his fiddle. He was the last member of the family to own the historic Hagerman home now located at Kings Landing. He was a member of the Bear Island Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Berniece M. (Ingraham) Hagerman; two daughters, Esther Hagerman (Richard Drummond) and Audrey HagermanHorncastle (Eric), both of Fredericton; a son Owen Hagerman, Mactaquac; three grandsons, Rob Hagerman, Andrew White (Kristy Hayes) and Jeremy White, all of Fredericton; two sisters, Martha Wall (Thomas), Fredericton and Marion Hagerman, Orillia, ON; a brother, Elwood Hagerman (Leota), Port Albernie, BC; sisters-inlaw, brothers-in-law, several nieces, nephews and cousins. William was predeceased by his father Herman in 1980, his mother Mina Parent in 1950, a sister Annie Mann in 1994 and an infant granddaughter Chelsey White in 1984. Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Thursday from 3:30 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. Rev. Roger Urquhart officiating. Interment will be in the Bear Island Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie and Winnie Morrison, Neil and Geneva Huestis, Herb and Wilma Shepherd, Manford and Doris Morgan, Charlie and Myrtle Finnie, Eugene and Betty Corey, Mike and Pat Davidson, Betty Szo and Doris Gilmore. Active pallbearers will be Danny Burchill, Duane White, Richard Drummond, Eric Horncastle, Sterling Gilmore and Tim Huestis.
