Gladys Frances Ellsworth, 85, of Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, formerly of Belmont Ave., Stellarton, passed away Friday, June 20th, 2008, at the Home. Born in Norris Arm, NL, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Pearl (Beaton) Hines. Gladys was a resident of Shiretown for two years having previously spent most of her life in Stellarton. She worked her early life in the Shell Shop then at Barkers Grocery and Stedman’s in Stellarton. Gladys was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crib. She is survived by daughters, Sylvia (Doug) Hayward, Pictou; Catherine (Tom) Bonvie, New Market, ON; sons, Donald (Myra), Abercrombie; Frank (Janet), Westville, nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Gordon) Parsonage, Westville. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo; brother, Donald James Hines. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday in the H. C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from Our Lady Of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Bill Rankin officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
