JEWETT, MARY LOUISA The death of Mary Louisa Jewett occurred at her home in Ripples, NB on Monday, August 4th, 2003. Born in Sheffield, NB on August 14th, 1911 to the late John P. and Sarah L. (Taylor) Jewett. She had resided in Sheffield, on the family farm, until 1987 when due to failing health she and her sister moved to Fredericton and on January 18th, 2001 moved to Cheryl Smith's Special Care Home in Ripples, NB. Mary was always an active member of the Sheffield United Church having joined it before it became a Congregational church. She loved talking to her "teddy bears" and took a great interest in all community affairs and was a life member of both the Sheffield W. I. and the United Church Women. Since moving to Fredericton she was an adherent of St. Paul's United Church. For many years she and her late brother exhibited vegetables in the Fredericton exhibition. She was predeceased by her brother, Egerton in 1968. Survived by her sister, Minnie of Ripples, NB and cousins, Edith Urquhart of Lincoln Road, and Catharine Kushneriuk of Deep River, ON. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home (458-9170) on Tuesday, August 5th, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Sheffield United Church on Wednesday, August 6th, 2003 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ruth Stuart officiating and Rev. David Fisher assisting. Interment will take place in the Sheffield United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Reg Middleton, Russell Emberley, Terry Kennedy, Stuart Bridges, Waldon Briggs and David Urquhart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sheffield United Church Memorial Fund, the Lung Association or to a charity of the donor's choice. www.mcadamsfh.com
