JOAN RUSHTON

RUSHTON, JOAN Joan Rushton passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Tuesday, August 12, 2003. Born in McKees Mills, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of Charles and Freda (Biggs) Gesner, who predeceased her. She was a teacher who graduated in 1957, and spent the rest of her life teaching her children and grandchildren. Joan was a very smart lady who enjoyed reading, gardening, playing the organ and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Nashwaaksis United Church Women. Joan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Garth Rushton. She was a loving mother to her four sons, Jeff Rushton, Neil Rushton and his wife Barb, Dave Rushton, and Matthew Rushton and his wife Cheryl, all of Fredericton. Joan will be forever missed by her grandchildren Stephanie, Scott, and Nicholas Rushton; her sisters Evelyn Price (Ron) of Moncton, Barbara Coates (Vernon) of Lewisville, and Lucille Colpitts of Moncton; one brother, Moody Gesner (Lillian) of McKees Mills; and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton North, on Thursday from 24 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM from the Nashwaaksis United Church of Canada. Rev. Brian MacDonald will officiate. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Nashwaaksis United Church Memorial Fund, the United Church Women, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
