Gordon Louis Kilger

NEW GLASGOW – Gordon Louis Kilger, 76, New Glasgow, passed away, April 15, 2008, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, he was a son of the late Ludwig “Louis” and Mary (Schauer) Kilger. Gordon was a resident of New Glasgow since 1970. He was an employee at Michelin Tire, Granton for 25 years. He attended the University of Winnipeg, becoming an electrical engineer, he then attended Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, where he was enrolled in the ROTP, later went on to Royal Roads, in Victoria, BC, and served as a fighter pilot in the air force. Gordon was a member of APENS, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member of the choir and the parish council. He was also a member of the Abercrombie Golf and Country Club and Branch 34 Royal Canadian Legion. Gordon was very musical playing piano and clarinet and was fluent in English, French and German. He is survived by his wife, the former Helene Foley, New Glasgow; daughters, Brenda (Wayne) Fraser, Little Harbour; Judy (Claudio) Sidoli, Ottawa; son Michael “Mickey”(Susan) Kilger, Halifax; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Brothers, William “Bill” and Rodney predeceased him. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
