Lower South River/Abercrombie – Harold “Hal” Conrad, age 75, Lower South River, formerly from Abercrombie and Trenton, passed away Monday, October 27, 2008, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late Richard and Mary (Fanning) Conrad. Prior to his retirement, he was a sheet metal worker at various construction companies. Harold was a minister for the Jehovah Witnesses for 35 years and became a full-time minister at the Kingdom Hall in South River, Antigonish Co., seven years ago. Harold had a strong faith was devoted to his church and his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Isabel (Favier); a son, Perry (Jackie), Kingston, Ont.; grandson, Michael (Patrizia) and great-grandson, Adamo, Toronto; and granddaughter, Melissa, Kingston. He is also survived by brothers, John (Marg), New Glasgow; Robert (Norma), Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday from the Jehovah Witnesses Kingdom Hall, South River, with Cameron Cresine officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Hal was loved, and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
