Stellarton - Ian Gordon MacDougall, 80, Stellarton, died at home on October 12th, 2007. Ian was born in East Lake Ainslie, Cape Breton. He was a son of the late Dan John and Minnie (MacKay) MacDougall, East Lake Ainslie, Cape Breton. Ian worked for the Department of Mines and Energy, retiring in 1986 after 42 years of service. He was an active member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton. Ian was a member of the Pictou County Old Time Fiddlers, the Keith Masonic Lodge #23 AF and AM, as well as numerous other organizations. He loved woodworking, making clocks, chairs, tables and received immense joy in giving to family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Anne (MacIver); children: Gordon, Toronto, ON; Sharon (Marc) Provencher, Sudbury, ON; Heather (Reg Delaney), Sydney; Paul (Sue Ellen), Stillwater Lake; grandchildren: Adam, Ashley and Erika Provencher, Tylor and Brett MacDougall; sisters and brothers: Florence Forward, Inverness; Lauchlin (Vivian), St. Catherine's, ON; Ainslie (Peggy), East Lake Ainslie; Myra MacKay, Tottenham, ON; Marie (Donnie) MacKinnon, Bolton, ON. He was predeceased by an infant son, David, brothers and sisters: Tom, Margaret "Peg" Estabrook, Josie Ross, Dunbar and Rosa MacKinnon. A celebration of Ian's life will be held at Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, on Tuesday, October 16th, 2007, at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Roy officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service in the church hall family flowers only please. Memorial gifts may be donated to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society or Sharon St. John United Church Elevator Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.C.MacQuarrie Funeral Home.
