J. Isabel Morris

Middle River – Mrs. J. Isabel (Jardine) Morris, in her 91st year, passed on to join her loved ones, who went before. Born on December 29, 1917, to the late Charlie and Lizzie (Collie) Jardine, in Burnside, Middle River, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. She did housekeeping in Westville, New Glasgow, and Belmont, Mass., in her younger years. She married Henry Wm. Morris, Westville, Pictou Co., NS. They moved to West Hill (Scarborough, Ont.), where she resided for 56 years. She was a faithful member of Melville Presbyterian Church, West Hill, where she was a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Ladies Groups. She enjoyed working as waitress, store clerk, drug store assistant manager in West Hill. Coming full circle in 2003, she returned to the land she was brought up in N.S. She was an adherent of Middle River Presbyterian Church, N.S. for the past five years. Isabel loved to dance, especially the hot polka, and square dancing. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed, but loved forever. She worked hard all her life to make a loving home for all her family. She gave and gave of herself, until her own health diminished. She is survived by daughter, Louise (Morris) McNeil, Middle River; grandson, Lorne (Mari-Lynne) McNeil, and their children, Adam, and Jason, Pickering, Ont.; grandson, Owen (Laura) McNeil, and their children Braydon, Connor, Megan; West Hill, Ont; granddaughter, Shauna Morris-Legros (Rob), Napanee, Ont.; granddaughter, Tracy Morris-Boone (Maurice) and their children, Nicole, Christine, and Anthony, New Castle, Ont; and daughter-in-law, Ruby Morris, Ont. She is also survived by cousins, Leonard and Ethel Jardine, New Glasgow; and Helen Lee, Pennsylvania, USA; sisters-in-law: Kathryn Goss, Hazel Sutherland, Poldi Morris, Erma White, Wanda Morris, Ginny Morris, and Mary Morris; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Henry; son, Charles; sister, Catherine “Kaye” Murray; and infant sister, Margaret. Visitations will be held Monday, August 18, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. She will then be transferred to the Giffin Mack Funeral Home, Scarborough, Ont., where her funeral service will take place. Interment will be in Erskine Cemetery, Pickering, Ontario. Donations in her memory may be made to Middle River Presbyterian Church, The Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of one’s choice.
