James "Jim" Lamey

James “Jim” Lamey, 70 of Springville, Pictou County passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Saturday, October 11, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Westville, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (MacDonald) Lamey Jim worked at the C.N. R. for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was a volunteer at the Food Bank and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society. Jim was an avid Detroit fan and enjoyed hockey and baseball. He coached little league baseball and was recently inducted into the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed nature, especially gardening, and sport hunting and fishing, however, the most important thing to Jim was always his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife Maureen “Cookie” (Marcott); daughter, Leisa Stuart (Kevin) and sons, Richard “Rick” (Donna) and Jerrold all of Springville. He was a cherished grandfather to Kevin, and Jason (Robyn) Stuart; and Nichole and Tara Lamey and great-grandfather to Adrian Stuart. He is also survived by brothers, John and Harry (Diane), Westville; Steve (Joan), Fraser Mountain and sisters, Sadie Golding, Thorburn; Annie Davidson, Oromocto; Margie Stewart (Grant), Stellarton and Aggie O’Brien (Bill), Pictou and several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by brothers, Alex and William and infant grandsons, Nicholas ad Aaron Lamey. Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p..m and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from The Church of The Holy Name, Westville. Burial will be beside his infant grand sons at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Thorburn. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Food Bank or to the I.C.U. of the Aberdeen Hospital. Holy Name CWL will recite prayers today at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
