STELLARTON - Janet "Jennie" Keay, 81, Allan Ave., Stellarton, passed away June 11, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Janette (MacAllister) O'Quinn. Jennie had been a resident of Stellarton since 1963 where she was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes C.W.L. for 35 years and a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes choir. Jennie received a volunteer of the year award having volunteered for the Stellarton School Band, was a captain for the Canadian Cancer Society and worked with the Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic. For many years she worked at the polling station for the Liberal Party during elections. Jennie was an avid bingo player and hosted many card parties. She was employed as a stenographer for the C.N.R. from 1945-1953. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph "Joe", Stellarton; children: William "Bill" (Holly), Stellarton; Gerry (Cindy), Concord Mills; Janice (Glenn) Keay, Dartmouth; Tommy (Terri), Grimsby, Ontario; Lois (Lindsay) Sutton, Hammonds Plains; four grandchildren: Jason and Joey Keay and Crystal and Courtney Sutton; brother, Peter (Theresa) O'Quinn, North Sydney; sister, Irene Aubrecht, Antigonish. She was predeceased by brothers: Cyril, Gus, Raymond; sister, Mary Quinn. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, with Father Francis Cameron officiating. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jennie may be made to a charity of your choice.
