ALLEN, WILLIAM AMOS The death of William Amos Allen occurred at his home in Mactaquac, on February 3, following a lengthy struggle with Pick's Disease. He was 61 years old. Born in Cape Tormentine, he was the son of the late Amos and Elizabeth (Finn) Allen. "Bill" was a retired teacher and principal in the province of New Brunswick, having taught from 1961 to 1995 in Port Elgin, Perth Andover, Sackville, Keswick Valley and Burtts Corner. Actively involved in many sports he coached basketball, played golf, skied and his true love was sailing. He is survived by his wife Clara (Gilmore) Allen; one son, Sean (Lori) Allen, Kingsley; two daughters, Shannon (Malcolm) McNevin, Whitehorse, Yukon, Shelonie (Michael) Cooley, Mactaquac, one sister, Betty (Henry) Davis, Port Elgin; three grandchildren, Heather Allen, David , Elizabeth Cooley; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Alex Goulet; several nieces and nephews; good friends James and Marilyn Bubar. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5, at the Keswick Ridge United Church with the Rev. Boyce Martin officiating. An internment will take place at a later date.
