BERNARD, JANE SCHUBERT B.Mus. (Mount Allison University, 1937) - Jane Bernard died peacefully at her residence in Woodstock, NB, on Friday, February 20, 2004. She was in her 89th year. Daughter of the late Dr. George Frederick Clarke and Mary Schubert Clarke of Woodstock. Jane is survived by her daughter Mary Bernard (Ian Fleming), Cambridge, England; son, Ian Bernard (Janie Logan), Ottawa; grandchildren Thetis (Chris) Kruger, Drew Bernard and Bronwynn Bernard, and great grandchildren Cailean Bernard and Ryland Bernard-Kruger, all of Ottawa; a sister Dees Homer, Woodstock; brother Frederick (Dorothy) Clarke, Woodstock; nephew Stephen (Anne) Homer and grand-nieces Zoe and Lea Homer, Montreal; and nephews George Frederick Clarke, Calgary, and Robin Clarke, Victoria. Following cremation, friends may visit at the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville on Tuesday, February 24, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m. A service celebrating Jane's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25. No flowers, please, by Jane's request. Memorial donations to the Carleton County Historical Society or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
