MARY ENA MCKEEN

MCKEEN, MARY ENA The death of Mary Ena McKeen of Mactaquac, NB occurred peacefully at her home on March 1, 2004. She was born at Scotch Lake, NB on October 1, 1899, the daughter of William and Maggie (Gray) Moore. She was predeceased by her husband Milan McKeen, a veteran of the First World War; a sister Nettie Moore, Brother Arthur, grandson Robert Cunningham and son-in-law Stuart Willis. She was the oldest member of the Keswick Ridge United Church. Mary was a graduate of the Provincial Normal School and taught in rural schools before her marriage. She was skilled in many handicrafts and was an organist in the local United Baptist Church for several years. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to her children. She was a life member of the Helena Blackadar Mission Band at the local Baptist Church and a member of the United Church Women at the Keswick Ridge United Church as well as a Member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion #4 Branch, Fredericton, NB She is survived by her five children; Helen Willis of Fredericton, NB; Arta Grant of Red Deer, AB; Jean (Addison) Cunningham at home; Stewart (Audrey) McKeen of Saint John, NB; Nancy (Hazen) Sloat of Selkirk, ON. She will be remembered by fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a great great grandson; cousins and many friends. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton on Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm with the funeral service at the Mactaquac United Baptist Church at 2 PM on Thursday with Rev. Hicks officiating and Rev. Dr. Amos Adeniyi assisting. Interment will be at a later date in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers for theservice are: Clarence Barton, Malcolm Cunningham, Howard Moore, Charles Willis, Ronald Willis and Murray Wilson. For those who wish, remembrances to the Keswick Ridge United Church, Mactaquac Baptist Church, Canadian Red Cross or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
