SIMMS, DONALD Don passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on March 16 at age 91. He was born at South Devon, the son of the late John Harvey and Jenny (Bailey) Simms. Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle (Marmie Burtt), his daughter Elizabeth Simms and her husband Fenton Bishop, grandson Andrew Haines, Fredericton; granddaughters Kari Haines (Paul Lasier) Woodstock, Jennifer Haines (Shawn MacKenzie) of Ashland NB, nephew John Simms and wife Pat of Kingston NS, niece Gail Cooper and husband Gary of Richmond ON, sister-in-law Verna Simms, Moncton; several cousins, including Bill Kaine of Calgary, Jean and Lydia Kaine of Fredericton. Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald G. Simms of Kingston NS, Neil O. Simms of Moncton, a niece Jean Simms, Kingston. Don was a member of Alexandria Lodge No 33 (Masons), The United Commercial Travelers, a Charter member of the Fredericton Golden Club, and the United Church of Canada (Gibson Memorial). In his early working years Don was employed with Maritime Electric Co. as Meter Leader. In 1946 he joined the Suns Life Assurance Co. of Canada and had a very successful career with the company. Don enjoyed participating in many sports, tennis, curling, and golf. His favorite times were spent on the golf course with his grandson Andrew. We'll miss you Dad, and catch up with you on the back nines. Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends in Fredericton and throughout the Province. Although there will be no visitation, a Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 20, 2004 at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton. A reception to follow at Funeral Home.
