MANCHIP, THELMA GWENDOLYN The death of Thelma Manchip occurred peacefully on Friday March 26, 2004 at home. Born 11 April 1915 in McAdam, NB, daughter of Frank R. Staples and Gwendolyn S Hire. Predeceased by her parents; husband James O Manchip; sisters Constance (Connie) Clark and Frances (Frankie) Bridger; and step-sister Doris Meyer. Survived by her son Robert Manchip of Ottawa, ON and grandchildren Kristine and David Manchip of Sidney, BC. Thelma was an active member of Christ Church Parish Church as well as a choristor, choir mother and Girl Guide Leader. Her participation in the guiding movement also included serving as Fredericton District Commissioner and Provincial Lone Guide Commissioner. She was a Life Member of the Governor Carleton Chapter IODE, and for many years assisted with the Fredericton Music Festival, the Rotary Radio Auction and the Community Concert Association. For 20 years, Thelma was employed by Ross Drug United as bookkeeper. No visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Parish Church, Westmorland Street on Tuesday March 30, 2004 at 11 am with Archdeacon John Sharpe officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the James Manchip Memorial Scholarship Fund, Fredericton Music Festival c/o Lucille LeBlanc 623 Kingsley Road Kingsley, NB E3A 6C5 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
