ROBERT HENRY SCHAER

SCHAER, ROBERT HENRY The death of Robert Henry Schaer of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, April 14th, 2004. Born in September 27th, 1922 in Manchester, England, he was the son of the late Henri and Edith (Potter) Schaer and the husband of the late Cynthia (Sirett) Schaer. Robert joined the British Military in 1939 at the age of 17. He served in Italy and North Africa during WWII. Following the war he served in the military police in Germany, Palestine and Egypt. He moved to Canada in 1956 and enlisted in the Canadian Military retiring in 1972. He later started a company called Property Search Ltd. After retiring from this he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Survived by two daughters, April O'Brien (Kevin) of Fredericton and Verity Schaer of Warminister Pennsylvania three grandchildren, Timothy O'Brien and Kate and Colin Baird; one brother, Samuel Schaer of Exeter, England. Predeceased by his parents; and wife Cynthia; one sister, Hetty Yates. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 17th, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Canon Jon Lownds officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
