Sheet Harbour/ New Glasgow – Joseph Bradford “Joe” Rector, age 76, of Sheet Harbour and formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in the QE II New Infirmary as the result of a stroke. He was the son of the late Hugh and Lil Rector. He was retired from Hawker Siddeley. Joe is survived by his long-time partner, Dorothy McCarthy; four children: Darlah Rogers; Patsy (George) Murphy; Kenneth (Cathy); Kevin (Melissa); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Tena (1988); and infant daughter, Stephanie Ann. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Friday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private family committal service will be held with burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his memory be made to Tearmann House.
