ASPEN/ANTIGONISH – Katherine Anne Fisher, 98, of Antigonish, formerly of Aspen, Guysborough County, passed away on Thursday, December 6th, 2007, at the Green Meadows Seniors Home in North Grant, Antigonish Co. Born in Ashdale, Antigonish Co., she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Bessie (MacNaughton) Cameron. Katherine lived her married life in Aspen before moving to Antigonish in 1997. She was a longtime school teacher and she had been principal in the Greenfield Consolidated School. Katherine was a member of the Glenelg Presbyterian Church, Glenelg, W.M.S. Rose Auxiliary and the Women’s Institute. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. An avid gardener she also enjoyed knitting, quilting and crocheting. She is survived by daughters: Shirley (Warren) Aikens, Little Harbour, Ruth (Robert) Chandler, Dartmouth, Carol (Keith) McKeen, Sydney River, Janet (Steve) Willumsen, Fisher’s Mills; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ian (Evelyn) Cameron, New Glasgow, and Donald (Lillian) Cameron, Chatham, ON; sisters; Janet Dagley, Milton, N.S., and Grace MacKay, Lochaber, N.S.; several nieces and nephews. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Howard L. Fisher; four children in infancy; step-mother, Elsie; brothers, Tommy, Allister and John James; sisters, Margaret MacDonald, Mary Taylor and Bessie Sutherland. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday in the Glenelg Presbyterian Church, from where memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday with Debbie Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Katherine may be made to the Glenelg Presbyterian Church or the Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
