MORIARTY, JEAN ELIZABETH (MURRAY) Jean E. Moriarty (Murray), 86, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, May 26, 2004. Jean was the wife of Rev. Victor Moriarty and the daughter of the late A.S. (Kirk) and Sarah (Targett) Murray of Sussex, NB. Her active church involvement began in Sussex, with the C.G.I.T. program, which was a significant influence in her life. She graduated from the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1939 and practiced in Moncton, Sussex and Halifax. Having lived in several communities in the Maritimes and Montreal, her interest in youth programs was always foremost. She felt her faith had been deepened and broadened by the relationships she enjoyed with the young people in her life, many of whom have continued to stay in touch. After retirement, she and her husband were instrumental in developing a strong Seniors Group at Wilmot United Church in Fredericton. Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Margaret (Paul) Bowen, Penobscot, ME, Carolyn (James) Gerrish, Sussex, NB, Peter (Alice) Moriarty, Halifax, NS; Alan (Susan) Moriarty, Middle Sackville, NS; David (Elizabeth) Moriarty, Herring Cove, NS; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, as well as her sister Margaret (Grant) Boundy and her sister-in-law Jean Murray (Lloyd). As a member of a large extended family, she has enjoyed a loving relationship with her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert A., Harrison, Ernest, Lloyd and sisters, Ruth (Leslie) Bell, Edith (George) Gould and Grace (Everett) Trites. A Celebration of her life will take place at Central United Church, Queen Street, Moncton, on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship in the church hall. The service will be conducted Rev. Hugh Farquhar. Memorial donations to be sent to Camp Wegesegum, Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or charity of the donor's choice.
