MILDRED LYDIA (BIRD) BARTLETT
BARTLETT, MILDRED LYDIA (BIRD) "The gates of heaven swung open, a loving voice said come. Mum gently took her Master's hand, and her life on Earth was done." The death of Mildred Lydia (Bird) Bartlett of Fredericton, beloved wife of the late Clarence Sanford Bartlett took place on June 10, 2004 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cardigan, NB, on November 4, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Eliza (Evans) Bird. Mum spent most of her life as a home-maker. Later years she worked at the VPH and the DECH for a total of 18 years, retiring in 1986. Mum was an avid reader and loved to travel. She had many friends and would want us to remember her with happiness and fond memories not with heavy hearts, for that is how she lived her life. She will be greatly missed by her children; Jennette "Jennie" Waugh (Melvin), Kenneth Bartlett (Wanda), Shirley McKinley (Edward), Cheryl Arnold (Richard), Patricia "Pat" Dupuis (Gerald); 15 grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister in law Marge Bartlett of Bath, ME; three nieces, Carol Dixon, Joan Harvey, Susanne Bartlett and one nephew, Allan Harvey. Predeceased by her husband; parents; an infant son Aulden Clarence; three grandchildren, Jody McKinley, Tammy Joy Arnold, Robert Hayward Arnold; her sister and brother-in-law, John and Bessie Harvey and one brother Royden Bird. She was a member of the Nashwaaksis United Church, Nashwaaksis United Church Women, Cornation Women's Institute, Star of the East #33, and Star of the East PastMistress Club. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Friday, June 11 from 7 to 9 PM and on Saturday, June 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. There will be an Eastern Star Tribute Service at 7 PM on Saturday. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 13 at 2 PM from the Nashwaaksis United Church, Main St., Fredericton with Rev. Frank Curtis officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be grandchildren, Tim Waugh, Tony Arnold, Ronnie McKinley, David Bartlett, Shawn Rose and Mike Coyle. Interment will take place at the North Cardigan United Cemetery. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, CNIB or the North Cardigan United Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
