PENNY HOYT MORRISSETTE

MORRISSETTE, PENNY HOYT 50, of Greenwood and Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton on June 12, 2004 in the presence of family, friends and a tremendously compassionate and professional palliative care unit. Born in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of Paul and Iris (Southern) Burden. Penny embraced life. She adored her husband, Yvon and her daughter Elizabeth. Marriage to Yvon was wonderful, Penny said it was the happiest time of her life. Daughter Elizabeth made her life complete. Penny had an all-too-rare ability to make friends. She treated people well. She did not pre-judge and she was forgiving. She loved to entertain. Potluck suppers and card parties were a regular occurrence at her home. There was never too much company or too little food. Penny delighted in bingo and darts at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #98 Kingston and ceramics, tole painting, crocheting, her pets and volunteering. She lived through her illness as she lived through life, with humor, love, optimism and acceptance. Penny was never a complainer. She asked little from life and gave much in return. Penny worked as a computer programmer at UNB, in Fredericton, NB, for 25 years before she moved to Greenwood. Penny is survived by seven siblings Christopher (Barbara), Michael (Margaret-Ann), Nicholas (Ruby), Peter (Mexie), Beverly (David) Delong, Betty Burden and Martha (Kevin) Gilrie. A memorial service will be held at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #98 Kingston on Friday, June 18 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
