RUSSELL, RICHARD (RICK) CHARLES 1959-2004 Truro, NS- Richard Russell ,45, passed away at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, NS, on Saturday, July 3,2004 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Moncton, NB, the son of Nerenne Russell and the late Charles Russell. After graduating from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (NSAC) Rick was employed at the NSAC for the next 24 years. For 20 years he was the Swine Herdsman and for the past 4 years Manager of the Fur Unit, he loved working with animals. Rick was involved with various activities in his community including the Agricultural Society, NS Provincial Exhibition, NS Forestry Exhibition, NS Natural Resources Exhibition and the Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association. Rick will be fondly remembered as the "COACH" of the Varsity Woodsmen Team at NSAC a position he filled for the past 24 years. He was an avid sportman hunting, fishing, sailing, snowmobiling and scuba diving with his friends at the camp was special for Rick. Barbequing the "just right" piece of meat was his specialty. He is survived by his immediate family members, mother Nerenne ; brother Barry and his wife Mary; two nieces Anneke and Alina and nephew Arthur all of Hillsborough, NB. He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB with visitation on Monday, July 5th,2004 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at the Hillsborough United Church, 2891 Route 114, Hillsborough at 2pm with Rev. Paul Taylor Officiating. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at the Hillsborough Kiwanis Center, Legion Street, internment will be following at the Hopewell Hill Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB. Donations made to the Hillsborough United Church Building Fund or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
