ESTHER CHRISTINA (MACINTOSH) R.N. PROUDE
PROUDE, ESTHER CHRISTINA (MACINTOSH) R.N. Esther Proude (Mac) passed away July 6, 2004 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after having recently been diagnosed with cancer. Born in Caledonia, P.E.I. in 1924, she was the daughter of the late Donald MacIntosh and Christina MacDonald. Esther is survived by her husband Fulton Proude, only daughter Janet Proude and son in law Danny O'Shea of Fredericton; sister Gladys Clarkin (Walter), brother Alex MacIntosh and sister in law Shirley Brydon (Bill). Esther graduated from the P.E.I. Hospital School of Nursing, the class of '49. Many long lasting friendships were formed during this time in her life and Mac thoroughly enjoyed her annual class reunions. She worked at the P.E.I. Hospital in Charlottetown until the family moved to Riverview, N.B. where she worked as an office nurse to Dr. Ramsey in Moncton. Esther had many talents, including sewing, furniture refinishing and upholstery; and was able to create the perfect childhood for her daughter Janet. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. In later life she enjoyed quilting and loved going to auctions. Abiding by her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Internment will be held in Highfield Cemetery, North River Road, P.E.I. A true lover of animals, she had a very special attachment to many family pets during her lifetime and by her request, for those who wish, donations made to the local S.P.C.A. would be appreciated. McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. www.mcadamsfh.com
