PHYLLIS H. DAWSON
DAWSON, PHYLLIS H. Auburn, Maine- Phyllis H. Dawson, 79, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Clover Manor in Auburn. Phyllis was born in New Bedford, MA on March 2, 1925, the eldest daughter of the late Philip Sr. and Bernadette (Vaillancourt) Hemingway. She graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy in Fairhaven, MA and Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. She attended Occupational Therapy School in PA. On August 9, 1952 she married Theodore E. Dawson and they resided in Massachusetts. They moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada in 1973. She volunteered at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. In 1982 she moved to Dartmouth, MA and in 1995 she moved to Bradenton, FL and in 2002 to Auburn, Maine. Phyllis was a member of, and in the choirs of both St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dartmouth, MA and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bradenton, FL. She was an excellent needlewoman working in crewel and needlepoint and creating her own designs. Phyllis was a life long Red Sox Fan. She was predeceased by her husband Theodore E. Dawson in 1977, two brothers, Philip Jr., and Vincent Hemingway, her sister Theresa McDonald and Brother in law Edward Martin. Phyllis is survived by two sons, Theodore E. Dawson of Rochester, MA, Mark H. Dawson and his wife Laura Taylor of Paris, Ontario, Canada, one daughter, Bernadette J.D. Biden and her husband Ed of Fredricton, New Brunswick, Canada and five grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Bernadette Martin of Dartmouth, MA, Joan Wolf and her husband Charles of Michigan and Bernadette Hemingway of Bradenton, FL. and many nieces and nephews. A family service and burial will be held July 23, 2004 in Scottsville Cemetery in Danby, Vermont. Arrangements are by Mayo, Curtis & Hill Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath, Maine.
