PICTOU – Mary Helen Turple, 92, of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, passed away November 20, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Westville, and educated in Montreal, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Cecilia (White) Cyr. An avid bingo player, Helen adored her grandchildren. She was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou. Surviving are children: Leonard J. (Helen), Bayview; Vernon E. (Janet), Scotsburn; Lester Jr. (Marilyn), Pictou; Janet (Howard), Pictou; Mary (Ralph), Vancouver; Emma (Russell), Pictou; brother, Walter Cyr, Pictou; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester B. Turple; and her youngest son, Hugh Thomas; sisters:?Kate, Eva, Rose and Mary; brother, Tom. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday from the McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. ?Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
