Margaret Howard Brownell
STELLARTON - Margaret Howard Brownell, RN, age 77 of 16 Union Street, Stellarton, passed away at home. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late W.D. and Margaret (Howard) Watters. Margaret lived her early years in Stellarton, then having lived in Halifax and Amherst during her marriage and returning to Stellarton where she had resided for the past 15 years. She was a registered nurse having graduated from Moncton City Hospital, then nursed at the Halifax Infirmary, also at the Amherst Regional Hospital as a supervisor. She was an adherent of the Sharon St. John United Church and was a member of Brach #28 Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are a daughter, Norma (Bob) Chisholm of Bedford; granddaughter, Catherine Strickland of Bedford, and grandson, Jeff Strickland of Moncton; a great-grandson, Brendon Alex Patton; sisters, Claire Sutherland and Anna Campbell, both of Stellarton; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Norman; brothers: Warren, Harvey and Bill; a sister, Mary. Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, from where funeral service will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. with Rev. John Roy officiating. Burial will be in Lorneville Cemetery. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Fund or to a charity of one's choice.
